Closeboarded fencing also known as featheredged fencing is a strong, solid fence constructed with overlapping vertical feather-edge timber featheredge boards. This type of fencing can be constructed with a varierty of different materials. Post and gravelboards can be made from softwood, hardwood, concrete, composite or even a durapost (steel post).
Panel fencing is made up of a prefabricated factory made panel there are many variations of panels They are all installed in the exact same way. They are fixed to a post of your choice which can be softwood, hardwood, concrete, composite or even a durapost (steel post). The advantage of panel fencing is that is that if a panel is damaged its easily exchanged for new. Popular panels include larch lap, closeboarded and slatted contempary panels
Palisade fencing also known as picket fencing is cost effective way of fencing usually in front garden where privacy isnt always required. It is made up of 2 arris rails, a gravelboard and palisades or pickets. Stock pickets come as rounded top or pointed topped. Palisade fencing can come as prefabricated panels also these are 6 ft wide which can be screwed directly to timber posts. in terms of strength and longevity the arris rail version is alot stronger however the prefabbed panel are cheaper in materials, something to keep in mind whilst deciding the fencing style you would like.
Post and rail fencing also known as sussex fencing, split rail or cleft rail fencing. This is an open design fence, made up from 2 or 3 cleft chestnut rails with a morticed softwood, oak or cleft chestnut post. Stockwire can also be added to keep those escaping pets in! heights are usually 4 foot however can be made lower or taller in regards to fence height. Traditionally post and rail isnt cemented into the ground these are dug into the ground and then backfilled with compacted earth. This is so posts can be replaced quickly and efficiently as timber will rot eventually. As the posts arent holding large tall panels it isnt affected by wind. Concreting posts in place does not stop posts from rotting. The concrete on the posts is to keep them upright and plumb. it is still a porous material so doesnt stop water from pentrating into the timber.

Deer Fencing is pretty much identical to stockwire fencing however its 2m tall to prevent deer being able to jump over
Post and rail equestrian fencing is made up of timber posts 6 feet apart with a double or triple curved or square cut softwood rails. popular in sand schools, fields and stable areas. this is great for large areas as it fairly inexpensive and made to be robust from larger live stock brushing up against it
